About the School:

Orlo Vista Elementary School’s 1.1-kilowatt photovoltaic (PV) system was unveiled on August 6th, 2005 during the Hands-On PV Workshop for Women at the American Solar Energy Society’s 2005 Solar World Congress. The installation was made possible by funding provided by the Vote For Change Renewable Energy Project, a national effort to raise awareness of the environmental impact of our energy choices by artists such as Stone Gossard, Pearl Jam, REM, Bonnie Raitt and the Dave Matthews Band.

Renewable Classroom projects are designed to build a dedicated community of renewable energy educators within a single school or district, led by a designated “Teacher Champion.” In 2005, educators within the school received a customized renewable energy teacher training, hands-on science kit materials to augment the school's existing curricula, and complete access to the resources available on the Solar4RSchools.org website
