About the School:

In 2009, the City of Beaverton received $914,900 in federal stimulus funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG). Of this funding, $125,242 was used to install solar panels on the roof of the Beaverton City Library.

The Library completed a series of energy efficiency retrofits and installed a 17.6 kilowatt solar array on the roof. The new solar array is estimated to provide the city with more than $7,000 annually from the power it produces. The system provides over 19,000 kilowatt-hours of power and keeps 29,000 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere each year.  Energy monitoring provided by the Solar 4R Schools program made the live performance data from their PV system available for educational purposes during the time of the project.
