In early 2018, the Boys and Girls Club of Portland (BGCP) proposed a three-year strategy to build capacity and engagement in connection with the PGE Renewable Development Fund-supported solar project installed on the Rockwood Club location in E. Portland. KidWind and CE have partnered with the club in order to provide wind and solar energy activities and training for BGCP educators. Now in year two, this "refresher" training will build off the previous successes from year one with a review of the science and engineering concepts related to solar and wind energy.

The Blazers club in N. Portland will host a half-day refresher workshop where BGCP staff from sites across Portland will gain the knowledge, tools, and understanding needed to lead teams of students into year two of the BGCP Renewable Energy Challenge. This challenge will offer student teams the opportunity to design, build, and experiment with their own solar cars and wind turbines models. Staff will leave the refresher workshop with all the materials needed to facilitate the competition.
