This event is a celebration and showcase of the hard work of the 2018-2019 cohort of the Renewable Energy Leadership Lab. This yearlong program by CE works with teachers over the course of a full year as they embark on developing, testing, refining and publishing curriculum focusing on rigorous clean energy education. Teachers in this year's hail from a diverse array of communities in the Pacific Northwest: Marysville, WA; Redding, CA; Vancouver, WA; Gig Harbor, WA; and Talent, OR.

This event will be broken up into five main segments, with each teacher presenting both their overall work to the audience as well as guiding the audience through a hands-on activity that makes up part of the unit they have developed. Projects this year include elementary battery science, chemistry and construction of photovoltaic materials, early childhood exploration of solar insolation, energy planning to meet 100% RPS goals, and 3D printing of solar boat components. Each of these teacher projects will take up a section of the day, following this general format:

  • Introduction (10:00-10:30)
  • Teacher Presentation 1 (10:30-11:15)
  • Teacher Presentation 2 (11:15-12:00)
  • Lunch (12:00-12:45)
  • Teacher Presentation 3 (12:45-1:30)
  • Teacher Presentation 4 (1:30-2:15)
  • Teacher Presentation 5 (2:15-3:00)
  • Optional Networking (3:00-3:30)

Details will be sent closer to the event regarding which specific presentation and activity will take place should you only be able to make a portion of the event. Additionally, BEF will provide lunch for all attendees.
