About the School:

Thanks to the financial support of Puget Sound Solar, a 1-kilowatt photovoltaic (PV) system was installed at Tahoma High School, placed right at the very front of the school. Tahoma Senior High School furthered their commitment to renewable energy education by joining the Solar 4R Schools program in 2010.

Renewable Classroom projects are designed to build a dedicated community of renewable energy educators within a single school or district, led by a designated “Teacher Champion.” Thanks to the support of Puget Sound Energy, educators within Tahoma Senior High received a customized renewable energy teacher training, hands-on science kit materials to augment the school's existing curricula, and complete access to the resources available on the Solar4RSchools.org website. Energy monitoring provided by the Solar 4R Schools program made the live performance data from their PV system available for educational purposes at the time of the project.

Students in Outdoor Academy, Global Academy, AP Environmental Science and other classes within the school will be able to leverage the PV system and educational resources provided to the school in their studies of renewable and alternative energy. Students and educators are grateful to Puget Sound Energy for providing core project funding, to Puget Sound Solar for system installation services and to the Tahoma School District for making the solar project possible.
