Solar 4R Schools NSTA Session: Hands-on Tools for Teaching the Science of Solar Energy
11/11/16—NSTA 2016 Area Conference on Science Education in Portland, OR

Join Solar 4R Schools at the NSTA 2016 Area Conference on Science Education in Portland on Friday, 11/11/16 11:00am to Noon. One of our past Renewable Energy Educator Lab teachers, Beverly Satterwhite from Illahee Elementary School in Camas, Washington, will talk about her experience developing hands-on photovoltaics curriculum for her students. Her project focused on the inclusion of photovoltaic arrays in house design, taking into account the mathematics involved with determining correct angles for optimal current and voltage. This NSTA session is open to all grade levels!

As part of this experience, you will gain insight into how to incorporate different engineering challenges focused on this content into your classroom, including overcoming curriculum design challenges. Lastly, you will walk away with FREE classroom materials aligned with the presentation and ready to explore for usage in your classroom.

To find our session: go to this link (http://www.nsta.org/conferences/schedule2.aspx?id=2016por), scroll down to "Solar 4R Schools" in the "Browse by Event Sponsor" to filter it for "Hands-on Tools for Teaching the Science of Solar Energy." Make sure to register beforehand to add it to your schedule and receive updates.
